About us

Stokes Fine Wines was founded in 1987 by Tim Parkins with the support of good friends. Indeed the company was run from the spare bedroom of Chairman Rufus Warner’s house in Stockwell for a number of years!

Originally setup to trade fine wine around the world Stokes built up a reputation for quality of service, quirky sense of humour and an approach to business which has won it many long-term supporters and committed customers.

Now ensconced in rural surroundings in Hampshire, Tim has been joined by Justin who spent his previous years pretending to be busy and stressed while selling Champagne to the UK multiple retailers!

Although under constant review and development, the range at Stokes Fine Wines is consistent in its objective to bring together a group of dedicated winemakers whose common goal is to produce handcrafted wines which are both individual and authentic and a true expression of each individual region.

There is a strong theme running through the list; wineries owned and run by passionate people; the highest quality from vineyard to bottle; wines with a sense of place and bags of character.

This strategy sits perfectly with its corporate philosophy at Stokes Fine Wines; family owned and run, searching out wines that stand out from the crowd – wines that deliver enjoyment, passion and fun - in truth, wines that they would love to drink themselves.
